As the weather is starting to get (slightly) warmer and the evenings are getting brighter, its time to re-assess your make-up!
TRENDS
Make-up this season is bright! To compliment (or clash horribly with- that is the point after all) the 80’s look that’s around this season there are neon eye and lips colours in nearly every make-up collection and on the catwalk. However, as many of us may have worn this look first time around, this is a look perhaps best avoided by all except the under-25’s and models in-front of a camera and on the catwalk.
A more palatable but equally fashionable look this season is ‘The English Rose’. This look suits many of the trends this season- the Romantic ruffled look, the ‘English Eccentric’ look. This years ‘English Rose’ look is slightly bolder than last years, when the colours were more insipid.
SPRING INTO SUMMER
Here I’m going to tell you how to get the look I created for the Spring into Summer covergirl Leanne (see pic below and soon to be seen on adshels all over

GET THE LOOK
Laura and Leanne both have fabulous skin and amazing bone structures so I wanted to ensure that this was highlighted with perfect application of foundation and contouring. Skin should be pale but luminous. Creme blusher in Rose tones was generously applied high onto the cheeks close to the eye.
On Leanne I applied a wash of green eyeshadow around the eye and false eye-lashes were applied both above and below the eye to achieve that wide-eyed effect. On Laura pink eyeshadow was applied as a base for the eye make-up and onto the cheeks to create a seamless finish from eyes to cheeks. An accent of a blue was applied onto the eyelid to add depth, this was teamed with false eyelashes to open the eyes and give an innocent appearance - almost doll-like.
The cheeks were layered with pink powder which encircled the eye area then dusted over with a reflective eyeshadow for luminosity and a sense of youthfulness. The lips were kept fresh in summer shades of pink.
This look encapsulates the freshness of spring and summer, the colours bring a welcome seasonal change and the textures are dewy and light. Spring/Summer make-up should be playful and glowing, go for colour on a perfect sunkissed skin.
False eyelashes are a must with a soft summer make-up and the trend for lashes is on the increase. To achieve a wide-eyed look, apply a strip of lashes rather than individual lashes as strips are easier and more likely to stay in place!!
