I often get phone-calls from people asking about the differences between our two courses.
Fashion and Photographic Make-up Diploma
Simply put, the Fashion and Photographic Make-up Diploma is for those with no previous beauty or make-up qualifications, or for those with a beauty background who would like to become more involved in make-up. This intense course gives graduates the opportunity to build a career in make-up industry, be that fashion, bridal or retail, without necessarily having a beauty background.
Advanced Make-up Diploma
The Advanced course tends to be a little over-looked on this website, simply because we run more intakes of the Fashion and Photographic Make-up Diploma per year, and as the website is so visual, there is a great emphasis put on the Fashion and Photographic student’s photo-shoots.
The Advanced Make-up Diploma is designed to meet the demands placed on the beauty therapist in a salon environment. Coming from a beauty background myself, I know the lack of time and resources spent on teaching make-up application in most beauty courses. Therefore many Beauty Therapists feel daunted by the prospect of charging someone for a make-up application, be that bridal, formal or a make-up lesson, and often dread the summer- ‘wedding season’ as they lack the confidence and knowledge to be able do a really beautiful make-up.
Make-up Specialist
The Advanced Make-up Diploma gives the Beauty Therapist the knowledge to become a ‘Make-up Specialist’ and covers the essential areas of make-up application: colour analysis, make-up applications techniques for different eyes, lips and face shapes, how to create the illusion of flawless skin, how to highlight strong areas of the face and disguise weak areas, as well as classic make-up looks: smoky eyes, classic and graphic liner, red lips and pared-down high fashion looks.
All our Advanced Student have left feeling so much more confident about make-up, and many have wondered how they ever charged for a make-up application before! Some of our Advanced students come back to do the Fashion and Photographic Make-up Diploma, finding that they enjoy make-up so much they would like to perhaps move into the fashion industry.
We’d love some feedback from Beauty Therapists- how confident are you with make-up?

INTERESTED IN MAKE UP COURSE BUT DO NOT HAVE NVQ IN BEAUTY - IS THERE A COURSE WERE YOU DO NOT NEED THIS TO GET QUALIFIED?
