The press launch for FFF09 took place last Thursday in the Kitchen Bar beside Victoria Square.
A press-launch is like a mini-event that takes place a month or so before the main event, to allow the organisers to get some press coverage and explain what the event, in this case Fall for Fashion, will entail.
From a make-up artists point of view, a press launch means starting work very early and having maybe ten faces to do in a short space of time!
Each retailer/designer taking place in Fall for Fashion showcases an outfit that will represent the trends they are pushing that season. The day before the press-launch I had a meeting with the stylist, Sara, to find out what looks were being shown and come up with a make-up that would best suit the outfits. As Fall for Fashion covers the high-street, vintage and designer market, the looks varied quite a lot, from very punky and grungey to lady-like and formal-wear, so I had a few different looks to do, from the classic Marilyn 50´s look, to dark smokey eyes (including on one of the male models), with sculpted cheekbones and incredibly textured sparkley eyes.
